Skilla Baby Says They Shot the Gangster Out of Him

Skilla Baby says the bullets that almost killed him last year changed everything. In a new interview, the Detroit rapper put it plainly from the driver seat of his car: they shot the gangster out of him.

“They shot the gangster out of me,” he said. “For real, they shot the gangster out of me, baby. They did.”

He is more than a year removed from the May 2025 drive-by on Eight Mile in Detroit that left him hospitalized. Police arrested a suspect the next month. Now he says he wants no part of the streets. “I want to be happy,” he said. “I ain’t no street nothing. I don’t do nothing street. I walk in the street and I get back on the sidewalk.”

He also talked faith and moving on his own terms. “I support God,” he said, adding that he does not want anybody controlling him: “I live my own life.”
