The White House press secretary job has been empty since October 16. On Saturday afternoon, President Trump went on Truth Social and offered it to UFC boss Dana White, fighters included.

Trump called White “a violent Fighter and Warrior” and asked him to bring assistants along to the podium: Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes and Kayla Harrison. In the same post, Trump said the fighters would be there to defend the administration against the Lunatic Left.
“Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job!”

White answered within minutes on his Instagram Stories. He posted a picture of himself at the briefing room podium with the caption “On to the next chapter” and shared Trump’s announcement right after it. He has not actually accepted anything, the White House has not confirmed the offer, and nobody official has said yet whether Trump was joking.

The job opened up when Katie Zacharia was fired on October 16, five days into the role. White has backed Trump for years, spoke for him at the Republican conventions in 2016, 2020 and 2024, and brought the UFC to the White House in June for a fight card on the grounds.
If White says yes for real, the first briefing is going to look less like a press conference and more like a fight week faceoff.
