Selena Gomez speaking to the camera in a selfie video about vaping and her voice

Selena Gomez Says Vaping Changed Her Voice for Good, and She Is Begging People Not to Start

Selena Gomez is not sugarcoating what vaping did to her. In a selfie video posted to her Instagram Story on Sunday, the singer said years of vaping nicotine changed the sound of her voice, and she does not expect it to ever go back.

“I’m not gonna be able to change my voice,” she said. “I vaped nicotine a lot.”

Gomez says she has quit, and she wants anybody flirting with the habit to hear the rest of it. “Nicotine is so hard to quit,” she said. “If you’re even trying to vape, it’s just not worth it. It’s so stupid and it’s changed my voice.”

She kept it light at the end, joking that if people do not like how she sounds now, that is fine too: “Just don’t listen to it.”

This is not the first time her voice has come up. Back in December 2025, Gomez told fans her throat sometimes swells, something she has linked to living with lupus, but she never tied it to vaping then. This time she pointed straight at the nicotine herself. It is her read on her own voice, not a doctor’s diagnosis, and she is using it as a warning while she tries to stay quit.
