Drake Turned 40 in NYC, Gave His Guests Chanel Bags and a Shot at $1 Million, Then Brought Out the Backstreet Boys

Forty looks expensive on Drake. He rang in his 40th birthday in New York City at Casa Cipriani, with more than 400 friends and family packed into the room, and the night kept topping itself. Guests got sent home with luxury designer handbags from Chanel and Hermès, the kind of party favor most people would put in a glass case.

Then the birthday boy turned his own party into a game show. Drake ran it himself, cash prizes on the line, starting in the tens of thousands and running all the way up to $1 million. Blow out your candles, then watch somebody win life-changing money off a trivia question at your birthday dinner.

And because the bags and the money still were not enough, the surprise of the night hit the stage: the Backstreet Boys, live, performing for the room. That is Drake in the clip, tux on, bow tie on, grinning through the whole set. Forty years in, he is still throwing the party everybody else wishes they got the invite to.
