Rashee Rice Filed for Bankruptcy With $3.45 Million in Debts, and His Super Bowl Ring Is Pledged to His Lawyer

Rashee Rice filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in Texas this week. The Chiefs receiver listed $677,054 in assets against more than $3.45 million in debts, according to federal court records reported by ESPN.

Most of the hole traces back to one night in Dallas. More than $2.1 million of the debt is tied to civil lawsuits from the March 2024 expressway crash that Rice later pleaded guilty over.

His biggest single creditor is still owed $979,837 from a 2025 settlement tied to that crash. The filing also lists a disputed $200,000 claim from a lawsuit by a former girlfriend who alleges assault.

$677,054 in assets. More than $3.45 million in debts.

The filing details are the story. Rice listed $13,640 across his checking accounts, a $53,800 Mercedes and $421,825 in deferred compensation. He says he rents and owns no real estate. His Super Bowl LVIII ring, valued at $160,000, is pledged as collateral to the attorney handling his civil cases.

Rice told the court he has made $1.25 million so far this year, in the final year of his rookie deal. His attorney declined to comment and the Chiefs had no comment. Creditors get their meeting on December 11.

Most players keep the ring in a safe. Rice’s is listed as collateral.
