Gabourey Sidibe has seen the AI videos that splice Drake onto her paparazzi photos. Her answer was to beat the internet at its own joke: she walked onto The Jennifer Hudson Show on Thursday dressed as Drake leaving his 40th birthday party, fake beard, black leather and all.
The piece that sells it is the caramel fringed shawl, a copy of the vintage Hermès wrap Drake wore out of his own birthday in New York last week, a look the timeline turned into a meme before the party photos were even cold.
“There’s an AI video of him spliced onto my body, my paparazzi photos. You think you can do better than me? Better than me? So here I am, my true self: Drake.”
She introduced the look the same way: “I’m Drake leaving his 40th bday party.” The crowd lost it before she even sat down.
Drake has not responded, which almost does not matter. The costume is the response, to the memes, to the AI edits, to everybody who thought the joke was on her. Halloween is today, and so far she is winning it.
