Burger King Employee Filmed Working the Drive-Thru in Blackface on Halloween

A Burger King employee in Minnesota spent her Halloween shift working the drive-thru with her face painted black. A customer filmed her at the window, and the video has spent the weekend getting passed all over the internet.

In the video, the customer asks the employee about the makeup. The employee says she is “just Black today,” and when she is asked whether she thinks it is okay, she answers, “As long as you have a good heart.” Asked whether that means she supports Black Lives Matter, she says, “Well, no, I just wanted to be Black.”

The customer posted the video to Facebook on Halloween. It pulled in millions of views there before jumping to X and everywhere else. The restaurant has been reported as a Burger King in Faribault, Minnesota, though the company has not confirmed the address.

“As long as you have a good heart.”

Burger King says it is aware of the video and takes the matter very seriously. In its statement, the company said the franchise owner is addressing the situation with the employee, her manager and the team, to make sure everyone involved understands why this is not acceptable and that it will not happen again.

What the company has not announced is any discipline. As of now, there is no confirmed report that the employee has been fired or suspended. A screenshot spreading online that claims Burger King fired her is fake. The company has made no such announcement.
