A man died Monday after he was thrown from Goliath, the 200 foot roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia, and four other riders were hurt.
Cobb County police say the incident happened shortly before 4 p.m. at the park in Austell, just outside Atlanta. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and his name has not been released.
Witnesses on the ride told local stations the man came out of his seat during the run. One rider said the falling man showed up in the train’s souvenir photo as he went past.
“He was in our pictures. He fell and hit the car three different times.”

The train stopped high on the track, and workers walked the stranded riders down the emergency stairs on the lift hill a few at a time while police and medics worked below. The four injured riders were taken to a hospital, and their conditions have not been released.

Six Flags said the park team responded right away and is cooperating with investigators, and that it would not share more details out of respect for the family. Police have not said how the man came out of his seat, and the investigation is still open.
Goliath opened in 2006 and is one of the biggest rides in the park, standing about 200 feet tall and hitting 70 miles per hour. The ride stays closed while investigators figure out what went wrong.
