11 People Were Shot After FAMU’s Homecoming Game in Tallahassee, Including Six Kids, and the Youngest Victim Is 11

Eleven people were shot near Bragg Memorial Stadium on Saturday night, right in the middle of Florida A&M’s homecoming weekend, and six of the victims are kids. The youngest is 11 years old.

Tallahassee police say the shooting broke out just before 8 p.m. on Perry Street near Manatee Street, after an altercation involving two or three people. Officers were already working the crowded homecoming area and reached the scene within minutes. Police believe one shooter was involved and called it an isolated incident.

“I stand before you tonight devastated. We hurt with you, and we will continue to get you the answers you so desperately want.”

Twelve people were hurt in all. Eleven took gunshot wounds, and the twelfth, a victim’s grandmother, was injured running from the scene. One victim is in critical condition, three are in serious condition and eight are stable. One of the wounded is a FAMU student. Nobody has died.

The university sent a campus alert at 8:40 p.m. telling people to shelter in place and avoid the stadium area, then said the campus itself remained safe. Hours earlier, the Rattlers had lost the homecoming game to Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 31 to 28.

As of Sunday morning, police have made no arrests and have not named any suspects. Revell asked anyone who was there, especially anyone with video, to come forward while detectives piece together what started the fight.
