Wu-Tang Clan Will Headline the Lions’ Thanksgiving Halftime Show, and Eminem Handpicked Them

The Detroit Lions announced Sunday that Wu-Tang Clan will headline the halftime show at the Thanksgiving Day game against the Chicago Bears, on November 26 at Ford Field. The booking came from Eminem and his manager Paul Rosenberg, who pick the act as executive producers, now in the second year of their deal with the team.

“We often like to do things that are both exciting and unexpected. A Wu-Tang Clan Thanksgiving performance in Detroit certainly fits that description.”

Paul Rosenberg, on picking Wu-Tang Clan

Last year, their first year running the show, Jack White headlined and brought Eminem out in the middle of the set for “Till I Collapse,” in front of his hometown crowd. That is the standard this one gets measured against.

Wu-Tang gets to Detroit in the middle of a victory lap. The group is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on November 14 in Los Angeles, and the Thanksgiving set lands while it wraps its farewell tour, “Wu-Tang Forever: The Final Chamber.”

Kickoff is 1 p.m. ET on CBS, and Antonio Cipriano sings the national anthem. Dinner can wait until after halftime.
