The head injury that sent Diddy to a hospital last weekend came from a prison fight with Jamaican drug lord Christopher “Dudus” Coke, TMZ reports, citing sources inside Fort Dix who say Diddy got the worst of it.
The bad blood started with an NBC News report in late September that described the life Diddy was allegedly living at the New Jersey federal prison: fellow inmates paid to cook, clean, do his laundry and give him massages, plus a contraband phone and alcohol. Officials answered with at least two raids, and phones got confiscated across the unit, including Coke’s.
Diddy was already sitting in the special housing unit, the SHU, over that fallout. During a daily break from solitary on Friday, October 9, he and Coke came to blows out in the open, and the sources say Diddy took the bigger beating.
An ambulance left Fort Dix around 1 a.m. Saturday. Diddy was back before 7 a.m., conscious and talking, with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Both men were then put in the SHU for two weeks.

Coke ran Jamaica’s Shower Posse and was one of the most powerful men at Fort Dix long before Diddy got there. He has been locked up since 2012 on a 23-year sentence for racketeering conspiracy.
The fight story is not the first explanation that made the rounds. A source initially told Page Six that Diddy said he “smacked his head on the bunk above him.” Asked about the fight report, a Diddy representative said, “We have no independent information on that.” The Bureau of Prisons does not comment on an inmate’s conditions of confinement, so officials have confirmed neither version.

Diddy is serving a 50-month sentence at Fort Dix. Between the phone violations and now a reported fight, his projected release date has reportedly slid back to March 2028.
