Bank of America ATM in Lewisville Texas where a barber found 128514 dollars in cash sitting on top of the machine

Texas Barber Found $128,514 Sitting On Top Of An ATM And Gave Every Dollar Back

A Brinks driver really left $128,514 sitting on top of a Bank of America ATM in Lewisville, Texas. Just serviced the machine, walked off, and left the bag sitting there.

A 37 year old barber pulled up around 10 a.m. on August 3 to take out some cash and spotted two bags on top of the machine. One held the $128,514. The other held 19 checks. Something on one of the bags made him think it belonged to the Chick-fil-A down the road, so he drove the money over there himself. The manager said it was not theirs, so he called 911 right there with the Chick-fil-A staff standing around him.

Police counted the cash twice and ran it through a digital counter. The total matched the bank receipt inside the bag to the dollar. Not a single dollar missing. The money belonged to Bank of America, and a Brinks technician had forgotten the bags on top of the machine after servicing it. No crime, just a mistake. The bank has its money back.

Lewisville Police Detective Gina Miller said, “I have never had a case like this before, ever.” She has seen people turn in wallets and IDs, but never $128,000 in cash. Police Chief Brook Rollins said the man did not blink. “They took it directly to where they thought it was supposed to be.”

The barber asked not to be named and skipped the spotlight. Police say they want to honor him anyway, and he told them a private ceremony is fine. Keeping the money could have meant a felony theft charge, police noted. He gave it all back anyway.

Real question for the barbershop: you pull up to an ATM and find $128K just sitting there, what are you doing?
