Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney split portrait

Shakur Stevenson Accepted Devin Haney’s 145-Pound Offer, and Now Haney Wants the P4P Crown

Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney are one step closer to actually fighting. Shakur accepted Haney’s offer of a 145-pound catchweight today, posting “145.0 U GOT A DEAL DEEHOE!!!!” on X. Haney quoted it right back: “Crown me #1 P4P after this InshaAllah.”

This is the weight argument that had the whole thing stuck. Haney wanted 147 with no rehydration clause for a December fight. Shakur wanted 144 plus a 10-pound cap on how much weight Haney could put back on after the weigh-in. The 145 number splits the difference on the scale, but Shakur’s post said nothing about the rehydration clause, and that part is still unresolved.

That clause is the real fight before the fight. Shakur is coming up from 140, where he just beat Teofimo Lopez in January. Without a cap, Haney could rehydrate way bigger by fight night, which is exactly what Shakur was trying to prevent. If he gave that up along with the pound, he conceded more than it looks like.

Nothing is signed yet, no venue, no confirmed date. Bill Haney has been pushing for November 28 in Atlanta. But both fighters publicly agreeing on the same number is the furthest this has ever gotten.
