Students at Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe High School in Georgia staged a fake fight to get their principal to come running. When Bobby Davis rushed in to break it up, the whole school yelled surprise.
Davis sprinted into the room and grabbed one of the students to pull him away. Then he turned around, saw faculty and students filming and clapping, and realized the brawl was a setup. The room broke into “Happy Birthday,” and Davis jumped straight into the student’s arms for a hug. The kids lifted him in the air while everyone sang.
The clip has pulled 5.7 million views on Facebook. The comments are full of people saying this is what a principal should look like. One person wrote that Davis didn’t yell or tackle anyone, he just went full speed to hold his student and keep everyone safe.
“He single handedly changed me for the better and he knows I could never take it for granted. The things he’s done during my time at LFO are truly memories I’d die with.”
De’Zayviun Watkins, the student who organized the prank
It’s Davis’s first year as principal at LFO. He graduated from the school in 1994, taught English and coached there, then came back as assistant principal in 2023 before taking the top job. The kids clearly love him back.
“The only recorded school fight I want to see.”
