Emmanuel Banuelos planned the perfect proposal. White roses, candles, and a mariachi band at Crescent Bay Point Park in Laguna Beach, all for his girlfriend Hayley Lugo. Then a woman walking her dog decided to ruin it.
The woman told the camera crew the park was only for locals and claimed she had already called the police. When the mariachi started playing, she lost it. “This isn’t Mexico either,” she shouted, telling the couple to go back to Mexico. Hayley’s sister Trinity caught the whole thing on Meta glasses. The clip has pulled more than 13 million views.
“I feel very blessed to be receiving the gown, and there are still a lot of kind people out there willing to help us despite what happened.”

The story took a turn this week. Lisa Clark, who owns Saint Clark Bridal Suite in Monrovia, saw the video and offered Hayley a free wedding dress. Hayley picked a strapless white gown with pearls around the top.
“I wanted to make sure that she understood that the world is not full of hate and there is still kindness.”

Laguna Beach officials said the woman’s behavior does not reflect the community’s values, though they noted planned setups in parks need permits. The woman had insisted officers were on the way. They never showed up.
The proposal survived the rant. The wedding just got a free dress.
