Diddy Sued NBCUniversal for $100 Million. He Lost, and Now He Owes Them $478K

A New York judge ordered Sean “Diddy” Combs to pay NBCUniversal $477,700.50 in attorneys’ fees on Tuesday, the latest bill coming due on a lawsuit he filed himself.

Diddy sued NBCUniversal, Peacock and Ample Entertainment back in February 2025, demanding $100 million over “Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy,” the Peacock documentary. He claimed the film used false claims about murder and sex with minors to cash in on his name. The case was dismissed in April after the judge ruled he was libel-proof, meaning his reputation was already so damaged by public evidence that the film could not legally make it worse.

NBCUniversal then sent its legal bill: $990,292. Judge Phaedra F. Perry-Bond cut that nearly in half, ruling some of the billing was excessive even though the lawyers’ hourly rates were reasonable for their experience. Final number: $477,700.50, owed by Diddy.

His rep, Juda Engelmayer, called the ruling “only half the story,” pointing out the court threw out more than $512,000 of what NBCUniversal asked for. He added one sharp detail: the firm that argued the bills were excessive is the same firm that recently withdrew from representing Diddy amid its own billing dispute with him.

Diddy is currently serving a 50-month federal sentence at Fort Dix and is expected out in early 2028. The fee order lands as his civil lawyers keep walking away over unpaid bills.
