Brian Steel, Young Thug's lawyer, standing on the street outside the Atlanta home during the 2022 YSL raid, bodycam still

Newly Released Bodycam Shows Cops Were Mad Brian Steel Pulled Up to Young Thug’s Raid Minutes After It Started

Bodycam footage from Young Thug’s 2022 Atlanta arrest was released this week, and the funniest part is the cops realizing his lawyer Brian Steel is already outside. Steel pulled up while the raid was still going, and the officers were not happy about it.

An officer greets Steel in the street and takes his card. Then he walks back to his colleagues and says what everybody on the scene was thinking.

“Great… his f***ing lawyer is here.”

Steel gets told to wait behind a fire truck while the warrant is served. He asks if his client is still inside, and the officer tells another cop Steel is being “real persistent.” The whole clip plays like a man who got the call and beat half the police department to the scene.

The raid happened on May 9, 2022, and it kicked off the YSL RICO case. Thug spent more than two years locked up before taking a plea deal in October 2024 that put him on probation and sent him home. Steel became one of the stars of that trial, and he has since defended Lil Durk too.

The footage is landing right as Netflix gets ready to release “Young Thug On Trial,” its documentary on the case. Four years later, the raid is still giving up new moments.
