Angel Carrasco grinning as NYPD detectives escort him out of the 49th Precinct in the Bronx

They Caught the Bronx Balcony Suspect. He Grinned the Whole Perp Walk.

Angel Carrasco is the 31-year-old man police say pushed his ex-girlfriend Nathaly Ramirez and their 8-month-old daughter off a 15th-floor Bronx balcony early Tuesday morning. Ramirez, 23, died at Jacobi Hospital. The baby survived, and cops believe her mother shielded her little body from the fall.

Carrasco ran. The NYPD put out a wanted poster with his photo and a warning that he was armed and dangerous. He was caught Wednesday night around 10:30 by the US Marshals fugitive task force after someone tipped them to where he was hiding.

Thursday, detectives walked him out of the 49th Precinct and he was grinning at the cameras the whole way while the crowd shouted. He is charged with murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, attempted manslaughter and assault.

Investigators found flowers in Ramirez’s apartment. They believe Carrasco brought them to try to win her back after a rough stretch. Police say they had answered domestic calls at the apartment before. In January, Carrasco was arrested twice in separate incidents involving Ramirez, once for allegedly slapping her and once for allegedly breaking into her apartment.

A memorial of candles and flowers went up outside the building. The baby was flown by helicopter to Cohen Children’s Medical Center and is in stable condition.
