ASU Cheerleader Eryn Bonner Charged After Viral Video Showed Tempe Cop Throwing Her Over A Bike

Eryn Bonner, 21, an Arizona State senior on the school’s stunt team, is facing two misdemeanor charges in Tempe after video from July showed an officer throwing her over a police bike and striking her during an arrest.

It went down early in the morning on July 19 on Mill Avenue outside the CASA nightclub. Officers were arresting her friends after one of them allegedly attacked a man on the sidewalk, and Bonner grabbed at an officer trying to pull him off. She ignored orders to get back, and the clip shows the officer shoving her to the ground, throwing her over his bike, and hitting her while another officer cuffed her.

She was left with bruises that lasted days. Her family says the force was excessive, and her attorney wants the arresting officer fired. Police tell it different: they allege she punched and scratched the officer first. She was initially hit with two felonies, but county prosecutors declined to move forward, and the city filed the two misdemeanor charges on September 23. Her next court date is November 4.

The footage is above. Her family and the police tell two very different stories about what it shows.
