Tyreek Hill testifying on the witness stand during his civil trial in Miami

Tyreek Hill Admitted Verbally Abusing His Wife on the Stand Friday, Then Changed His Story About the Hole in the Wall

Tyreek Hill took the stand in his own defense Friday, and the first thing he did was admit he was verbally abusive to his wife. Then he changed his story about the hole in the wall.

The exchange happened during the Miami civil trial where his estranged wife, Lakeeta Vaccaro, is suing him for assault and battery. Court TV reported that Hill said he felt ashamed after watching recordings of their arguments play for the jury.

The hole in the wall is the detail that boxed him in. On Thursday he testified that he pushed Vaccaro against the wall of their Sunny Isle condo while trying to get away from her, and that made the hole. On Friday he said the door did it, not him.

“I’m going into football terms, but I just think that after watching the film, there were a lot of areas I can improve in.”

The week has been rough for him. Jurors heard a baby monitor recording from April 2025 with Vaccaro screaming for help while Hill shouted over her, their newborn asleep in the crib. She also testified that he tried to punch her stomach while she was pregnant in July 2024. He denies all of it, and his lawyers call the case a shakedown.

The stakes go past the courtroom. The NFL is reviewing the case under its personal conduct policy, and Hill is a free agent after Miami released him. No criminal charges have been filed. The trial picks back up Monday.

Hill pleaded guilty to domestic assault and battery by strangulation back in 2015. That case involved another woman. This one is about the hole in the wall.
