Trump Says He Should Have Won 8 Nobel Peace Prizes After the Prize Went to a Woman He Says Nobody Ever Heard Of

The 2026 Nobel Peace Prize went to South African jurist Navi Pillay on Friday, and President Trump took it personally. He hopped on Truth Social to say he should have won eight of them instead.

Pillay is a former UN human rights chief and international judge, honored for her work promoting peace and international law. Trump posted her photo and wrote that he knows nothing about her. “In fact, to the best of my knowledge, no one ever heard of her,” he said, adding that she “very obviously, hates Israel.”

“In actuality, I should have won 8 Nobel Peace Prizes, not just 1.”

He listed eight conflicts he says he settled, including India and Pakistan, Israel and Hamas, and Armenia and Azerbaijan, and claimed the leaders of those countries sent letters to the Nobel committee backing him. Pakistan’s prime minister publicly backed his bid on Friday.

Trump also pointed to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, who handed him her own Nobel medal at the White House back in January. That photo is making the rounds again.

The Nobel committee has not responded. It rarely does.
