Rockstar Games has officially announced that Grand Theft Auto VI will be released on May 26, 2026. The game was originally planned for Fall 2025, but the company says the delay is to ensure it meets the quality fans expect. The first release will be for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with the PC version expected later. GTA 6 will take players back to Vice City in a massive open world inspired by modern-day Miami. It will feature dual protagonists — Lucia and an unnamed male partner — in a story filled with heists, chaos, and a social media-driven in-game world.
The delay has been met with mixed reactions, with some fans frustrated and others supportive if it means a polished launch. Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, says it’s confident in the new date. The midnight local time release will roll out worldwide for console players. PC gamers may have to wait six to twelve months after console launch. Pre-orders are expected to open closer to release, with multiple editions likely. Industry insiders note that with the official date set, the odds of another delay are now much lower.
