Diddy’s Trial Has Begun

The first day of Diddy’s trial just wrapped, and things are already moving. The hip-hop mogul stepped into a Manhattan courtroom for jury selection—the first step in a case that’s got everyone watching.

Right from the jump, the tension was felt in the room. Some potential jurors admitted they’d seen the 2016 surveillance video of him allegedly assaulting Cassie, while others had caught the headlines about the baby oil detail that’s been making the rounds. Judge Arun Subramanian even threw in a joke about Diddy’s many stage names, briefly cutting through the seriousness of it all.

And Diddy? Not exactly his usual confident self. At one point, he asked for a bathroom break, saying, “I’m sorry, your honor, I’m a little nervous today.” A rare moment of vulnerability from someone used to being in control.

By the end of the day, 19 jurors were selected, but the process isn’t done yet. More questioning is up next before opening statements officially kick things off on May 12.
