The World Cup is apparently doing numbers on dating apps too.
According to Tinder, activity has surged during the 2026 FIFA World Cup as fans from around the world travel to host cities across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Compared to the same time last year, international activity in host cities is up 47%, domestic activity is up 22%, swipes have increased by around 25%, and matches are up nearly 60%.
The trend also appears to be stretching beyond Tinder. Reports say many singles are downloading apps like Hinge and Bumble specifically for the tournament, hoping to meet visiting fans while they’re in town.
