Following years of fan speculation, Laurence Fishburne has confirmed he wants to play Professor X in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men reboot. Speaking at New York Comic Con, Fishburne said, “I know they’re talking about the X-Men now. So, at this point, I want one of two things. The first thing would be: what do you think about Laurence Fishburne as Professor X?” He added that he’s been reading Marvel comics since childhood and feels the role “fits perfectly” with his age and the type of characters he’s known for.
Fishburne, who previously appeared in the MCU as Dr. Bill Foster in Ant-Man and the Wasp, said Professor X “feels like the most appropriate character for me to play at the age that I am at this point.” He joked that if Marvel gave him the part, he’d even ask for “those iconic eyebrows.” Marvel Studios has not commented on casting for the X-Men reboot.
